Happy New Year! Our first meeting of 2013 will be hosted by our very own John Aldred.

John will guide us on how to get started in flash portrait photography and how to use the Society’s portable lighting kit.

This is another in our series of hands-on evenings aimed at helping you make better pictures by getting you to try out new ideas and techniques.

The first half of the evening will take us through the basic principles of flash photography, how to use artificial light in your photography and what makes a great portrait.

The second half of the evening will be a practical demonstration in using the Society’s portable lighting kit. John will be joined by Amy, to demonstrate various lighting techniques and principles.

As well as being a member of the Society’s executive committee John heads up his own photography business at JBC Media. JBC Media specialises in portraits, event photography and pet photography.

You can view a selection of his images on the JBC Media website and view a selection of his past competition images.
