For many years Syd Cumbus has provided a brief review of the week’s meeting to the Lancaster Guardian for their Social Scene column. We’re now very happy to be able to also present these round ups on the website.
The President of Lancaster Photographic Society, Sally Anderson, welcomed members from the Photographic Societies of Barrow, Ulverston, Holme, Trimpell and Lunesdale for the South Lakes Knockout Competition 2014.
The event was held at Carnforth High School with each Society providing a selection of prints and digital images for projection. Judges were provided by each participating club. The first match between Barrow and Lunesdale was won by Barrow (329 v 327 points). Next Lancaster versus Ulverston resulted in a victory for Lancaster (347 v 309 points)
In the second round Holme challenged Trimpell and won by 29 points (352 v 323). Barrow versus Lancaster was closely fought with Barrow winning by 9 points (320 v 311). The final was Holme against Barrow and this match was won convincingly by Holme Photographic Society, 457 points against 435. Ian McDonald, who had inaugurated the competition many years ago was present to award the shield to Holme and District Photographic Society.
