Southlakes Interclub Battle – The Results

Guest post written by Vic Crumley

Lancaster Photographic Society entered the South Lakeland Inter-Club Knockout Competition last Thursday, hosted by Ulverston Camera Club. Six clubs submitted 15 photographs comprising colour prints, mono prints and digitally projected images, and more than 50 members of the clubs attended. Lancaster progressed to the semi final by winning the first round against Barrow, then won through to the final against Holme with a thrilling win over Ulverston. Unfortunately their good run stalled in the final, which Holme won by a total of 410 points to Lancaster’s 399.

This was the third successive time in the final of the competition, but a win still elludes the local photographers, as the two previous occasions were lost to Kendal. Members felt that the standard of their work was the equal of the other clubs, and they now look forward to next year’s competition, which is to be hosted by Lunesdale Camera Club.

South Lakeland Knockout Competition

This week we’ve got a change from our normal meeting because we shall be guests of Ulverston Photographic Society.

Ulverston are playing host to the “South Lakeland Knockout Competition”.

This is an exciting interclub knockout competition where societies battle it out against each other with a portfolio of five colour prints, five monochrome prints and five projected images each. Each society provides two judges who will score the other societies images. As you may recall Lancaster narrowly missed out on the top prize last year due to some stunning images from our friends over in Kendal Photographic Society.

The competition takes place on Thursday evening, 7:30pm prompt at

Parish Centre,
Church Walk,
Ulverston

A few members are sharing cars from Lancaster to the event. If you would like to join us then we will be meeting outside 134 Coulston Road in Lancaster at 6pm. Spare cars will be left on the University of Cumbria car park.

Because of the competition there’s no meeting this Wednesday, the next meeting in Lancaster will be on the 7th of March.

MEETING DETAILS:

  • Thursday 1st March; 7:30pm
  • Parish Centre, Church Walk, Ulverston

Stay tuned for results and I’ll get them on the site as soon as I hear them.
