Allan Hartley ARPS
We’re pleased to announce that Allan Hartley has been successful with a second Associate level panel with the RPS (Royal Photographic Society).
The Associate is the second level of distinction within the RPS and is awarded to those who can demonstrate a high standard of technical competence, creative ability and control in their photography.
It represents a significant achievement by Allan and and I think we would all agree that this is richly deserved.
Allan cites his main interest as adventure photography and has been a member of the Society since 2001.
You can view a selection of Allan’s work within our gallery and on his website.
This week’s guest speaker is professional landscape photographer Peter Leeming.
Peter lives in the Esk Valley in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and his passion for landscapes and travel have taken him around the world in search of adventure. He has climbed, skied and photographed in some of the more remote mountain ranges, and the result is a collection of rare and elusive mountain images of the Alps, the Peruvian Andes and the Pakistan Karakoram.
Peter will give two lectures to the Society this week. The first “Mountain Landscapes” is the story behind his acents in the European Alps, the Peruvian Andes and the Karakoram of Pakistan. The second lecture “Searching for Depth” is a more instructive examination of his photography, his methods and his artistic passions.
You can see a preview of some of the images featured in the following video

Peter’s work is exhibited work at The Gallery Within in the Joe Cornish galleries. You can also see a sample of his work and passions on his website.
Everyone is welcome and your first two meetings as a guest to the Society are completely free of charge. Membership is £30 for the entire year or guests can continue to visit for just £3 per evening.

Saturday is Lancaster’s annual Fireworks Spectacular. This year the fireworks will be launched from the top of Lancaster Castle for the first time.
We’ll be meeting up to take photographs of the fireworks and all are welcome to join us. Last year gave us some brilliant results and these meet ups are a great way to try your hand at something and learn from each other.
We’re meeting up at the Yorkshire House at 7:15 before heading up to Skerton Bridge. John will be heading up the evening so once you arrive let him know you’re there.
