The evening began with an informal showing of the images captured on our night time, competition shoot in Lancaster Centre. The outing produced a number of memorable mono and colour images, and inventive use of the digital darkroom to create interest and surprise and, hopefully, win the competition. Fraser’s group produced excellent mono images of the stepped approach to the priory church and dalton square. His group’s images attracted most votes, won the competition and were awarded the pleasure of organising a similar event for next season’s programme. Alan’s thoughtful triptych image of the colourful, changing lighting scheme on the ‘Gin Palace’ won best image.
Members also discussed and then endorsed the society’s bid for National Lottery funding before hearing from Carole who provided a personal account of her progress in acquiring the black arts of the digital darkroom and applying these to a particular image to create, in her words, ‘something from nothing’.
