The Society arranges regular trips over the summer months, and sometimes at other times of the year.
Williamson Park Zoo photography evening
The zookeeper Emma Clear is putting together a Williamson Park Zoo Photography Evening following the success of our first event. There is space enough for 25 photographers (and some equipment!). The cost is £5 per person and the event will run from 6pm - 8pm. The provisional date set is Tuesday 19th December, this *may* change but all is looking good for it so far as there is also a late night Carol concert on at the Ashton Memorial.
You will have the chance to wander the zoo, including the Butterfly House, free-flight aviary, mini-beast cave and small Mammal section in your own time. Keepers will be on hand to bring animals out from behind the glass to ensure you snap the perfect shot! Please email Emma on email@example.com or call the park on 01524 33318 for any further information.
Some of us went to the first session in August, and it was excellent. We were able to use flash, including diffusion umbrellas. Alan and Brad have these and I am sure they both would let you have a go with them! We took our gear into the rather hot and humid butterfly house about an hour before starting to acclimatise it, and this is recommended.
Ongoing informal feedback meetings during the "closed season"
Monday evenings when the Society does not have a Monday evening meeting, in the Merchants 1688 pub, from 8.00pm. A standing invitation to anyone who likes beer as much as photography and wants to catch up with other members for a social pint and a chat about photography and other things. if you are at a loose end and fancy a pint, drop in!
